For the past few months I've had a lot of trouble sleeping. Even in the height of the summer (which admittedly was quite cold this year) I've woken up cold, especially my feet have been quite chilled.
I'm a pretty tall dude and it's not uncommon that my feet stick out a bit from under the duvet, especially if it's chilly enough that I pull the duvet up a bit during the night. The problem has been a bit of a catch 22 however, because if I've dressed warmer or put on an extra blanket for the night I've been sweating instead.
I've tried a whole lot of things but eventually just settled on the hope that heat will be turned up in my flat when winter comes, because I didn't have any problems sleeping last winter. And the heating has been entirely turned off during the summer.
Fast forward to a few days ago. I was standing in my living room looking at a painting I've made, and as I took a step aside i noticed that the floor was noticeably colder on that specific spot. It makes sense because there's a ventilation outlet in the ceiling just above it. They recently adjusted the flow in the ventilation too, and now I hear a steady woosh through the flat constantly. But as I was standing there it suddenly struck me: I have a similar outlet just above the foot end of my bed.
That night I moved my bed to the other side of the room and I've slept like a baby since. No more waking up cold.
You know what happened just before the summer? Ventilation broke down and they installed a new fan. Coincidence that my sleep issues arose just about that time? Anyone wanna take bets on that?
